We envision a community recognized nationally for the quality of its local artists, in which people from all walks of life are able to appreciate, learn about and collect art.
Wood River Valley Studio Tour, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization celebrating the artistic talent of the Wood River Valley by connecting artists, art lovers, and those new to art, through an annual exploration of local artist studios. By showcasing the creative community within the Wood River Valley, the tour aims to inspire regional and out of state visitors to travel to the valley to experience first hand the quality of locally produced art, our vibrant community and the beauty of the valley’s natural environment.
The formation of the organization and the open studios event throughout the greater Sun Valley community are the result of the successful collaboration of two Wood River Valley entrepreneurs and business owners.
Brooke Bonner, former director and co-owner of Green Antelope Gallery in Bellevue, Idaho, established her gallery in 2006. Collaborating with a small group of artists, Bonner, a fine-art photographer herself, created the Bellevue Open Studios event. For three years, Bellevue Open Studios featured artists located in and around the City of Bellevue during the annual event.
Suzanne Hazlett, wealth management advisor and president of Boulder Financial Alliance, L.L.C., based in Ketchum, is also a fine artist and owner of Sazu Studio, L.L.C. In the fall of 2012 Hazlett approached Bonner and posed the question of the gallery owner’s interest in collaborating to establish a valley-wide studio tour. “Yes!” was Bonner’s response before the question could be finished.
Bonner and Hazlett’s enduring vision is a sustainable enterprise that will promote and establish the Wood River Valley Studio Tour as an annual art event worthy of participation year after year.
