Most of my year is spent in Europe or Mexico, thus I paint small and out of my pocket. Documentation of my travels with watercolor, pen, and a travel journal are the seed of my larger paintings. I am an illustrator first, thus much of my plein-air painting is done within my landscape before the imagination and narrative kicks in. I am a lightning rod of emotion and use the natural world as my grounding and center.
